How to save money on your wedding

Your wedding is one of the most expensive parties you will ever throw. Weddings are a wonderful time to celebrate your love and partnership but they can also be a great way to start a marriage out indebt. To make the most of your wedding you want to work to save money and ensure you stick to a budget that will not leave you struggling as you start your new life together. These tips can help you save money on your wedding so you can get more for your budget.

The biggest tip you will hear for planning a wedding on a budget is to not tell event vendors it is a wedding you are hosting before booking. This is because many vendors raise the prices of their services when they know you are planning a wedding. Avoid the raised prices by referring to your event as a party until your contract is signed so your rate will not be affected.

Limit your guest list. Not everyone you have ever met needs to attend your wedding. To help keep your wedding budget under control limit your guest list to people that are actually part of your life and you expect to continue being part of your life after your marriage. Traditionally parents have pressured their children to invite people they have never met for appearances. Avoid this kind of pressure, your mom’s co-workers won’t be insulted that they were not invited even if your mom says otherwise.

Consider having your wedding mid-week. While guests will need to take the day off even for a local wedding if you go this route you can save a lot of money by booking venues and services for mid week when there is less demand. With plenty of warning, guests can easily request their schedules be switched around at most workplaces.

Use personal relationships to your advantage. While you should never ask for services from a friend for free, after all, they put a lot of work into the services they provide, many people have friends they can ask to take the place of outside vendors for a better deal. This is a great way to save money and put your money back into your own local community/friend circle helping your friends to growCreate Link their businesses.

Make your decorations yourself. Right now beautiful rustic decor is in and that means weddings with this style are easy to DIY. Rustic style is all about the charm and perfection is not necessary. Look for items that can be reused later like using mason jars with candles for simple elegant centerpieces.

Make your own invitations and thank you cards in a minimalist style. These can be designed online and printed at a low cost at most office supply stores. Add your own embellishments if you with top spice things up. A simple ribbon in your wedding colors is a great option.

Save money on your dress by shopping sales. Look for a trunk sale or sales on samples to find a great deal on your dress. Sample or clearance sales usually happen in the spring or fall but you can always ask if they have anything on clearance any time of the year.
